Take No Bribes

Take no bribes, for a bribe makes you ignore something that you clearly see. A bribe makes even a righteous person twist the truth.” ~ Exodus 23:8 NLT

This is the word of God, not Kow Essuman’s word. In Ghana today, we have many people in high places who call themselves Christians and yet are quick to ignore things that are clear and ever ready to twist the truth. That is what a bribe makes you do. It causes you to avoid things that are so clear and it causes you to twist the truth even if you are righteous. We should therefore avoid taking bribes.

This word of God was given to the Israelites thousands of years ago and guess what, it is still relevant especially today in Ghana with all the various bribery and corruption scandals we hear everyday.

If you truly have the fear of God in you, you will easily reject a bribe. Don’t you agree?

P.S. I did not go searching for a Bible verse on bribes for any political agenda. As I was reading the Bible this morning, this word dropped in my spirit and I decided to share. I could have easily made it political or targeted certain quarters, socially and professionally, but I chose not to because the application of this word of knowledge is more important for our daily lives as Christians, than any agenda.
