Lent 2017 – Day Twenty-Nine

If we live our lives for the approval of people then we will miss the point. We should live our lives for the approval of God. What God thinks of us should be what matters to us. Pleasing man to the displeasure of God is something I always tell God to help me avoid. When faced with a decision to please God or please man, I choose to please God and not people. As Paul puts it, “If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.”

Let us seek the approval of God in all things and not the approval of man.

Lent 2017 – Day Twenty-Eight

Salvation is the best thing that happened to me and I am confident that many believers share a similar sentiment. The thing about salvation is that it assures us of eternity with our Father. It reconciles us to our Father who has promised to take care of us when we put our trust in Him. We are saved from eternal death and damnation. It is an awesome realisation, and I wish that you will have the experience of salvation. The experience of salvation is enough to make you shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation just as the Psalmist says in the verse.

Let us share our story of salvation during this season so that we can have many people shouting joyfully to the rock of our salvation.

Lent 2017 – Day Twenty-Seven

There are certain declarations that secure your position or standing in life. One of such declarations is that which the Psalmist makes in this verse. The Lord is my rock. A rock is a solid material which cannot be broken easily. A house built on a rock cannot be washed away easily when the rains come. If the Lord is your rock then it means you have a solid backing in times of trouble. Then it says the The Lord is my fortress. A fortress is a stronghold usually used in reference to the military. In a fortress, one is protected and the enemy cannot penetrate a fortress easily or at all. If the Lord is your fortress then you know you safe from the enemy. The Lord is my saviour is self-explanatory. When you are trouble you can be assured that the Lord will step in and save your from whatever trouble you are in.

Let us make the declaration today: the Lord is my rock, my fortress and my saviour.

Lent 2017 – Day Twenty-Six

God is a faithful God. Even when we are not faithful, He is faithful. So can you imagine if you are actually faithful to God and His causes, what He would in turn do for you? The Scriptures tell us that God is not unjust and that He will not forget the love that we show to His people. If we want to God to remember us, then we have to show love to His people. Who are God’s people? Look no farther from yourself. God’s people are all around us – in our homes, at our workplaces, on the street and everywhere. When an opportunity arises to show love to a stranger, we must remember that we are doing it for God and that He will remember that act of love.

Let us show love to all those around us today.

Lent 2017 – Day Twenty-Five

Fellowship with God requires us to be living in the light. We cannot say that we have fellowship with God when we are still living in spiritual darkness. Spiritual darkness includes living a life which is contrary to the word of God or living a sinful life in secret whilst telling everyone that you are a child of God. If we live in the light then we will have fellowship with God because God is light, and we will be cleansed by the blood of Jesus to ensure that we continue to have fellowship with God.

May you be emboldened to step into the light and have fellowship with God.
