Lent 2017 – Day Nine

The goodness of our Lord cannot be explained. The kind of joy you feel when you have an encounter with God cannot be described. Before I had a personal encounter with God, I used to think that those who described Him and their encounters with Him were merely exaggerating. But eventually I had my own encounter with God. I tasted the Lord and saw how indescribable the experience was. When you have an encounter with the Lord, you realise that there is unexplainable joy about his goodness. Yes, the Lord is good.
I pray that you will have an exceptional encounter with the Lord today.

We are encouraged to trust in the Lord always. Not sometimes or once in a while but always. Always means all the time and on all occasions. We have to trust God in everything that concerns us and the people around us. Trusting God involves having a firm belief or confidence or faith in Him. When we trust in the Lord, we believe that He has got our best interest at heart and He will work everything out for our good. The Scripture tells us why we need to trust God. It says that God is the eternal rock. I find the description eternal rock to be very reassuring. It means that God is a firm and solid foundation that we can always rely on forever and without end. Somethings that we may put our trust in, eventually come to an end but God never ends. He is the beginning and the end.
Let us put our trust in the Lord today, and always.

Many people pray and wonder why they do not get the answers that they want from God. In fact, there may be many reasons why God may not have answered your prayers the way you want Him to. But one thing you can be sure of is that if you are not righteous, the Lord will barely hear you. God hearing you is very critical to He answering your prayer. If God cannot hear you, how can He answer your prayer? God has to hear you to be able to answer your prayer. The Scripture says God hears the prayer of the righteous but is far from the wicked. Wicked in this context means anyone who is not righteous. Thus, if you are not righteous then in God’s eyes, you are wicked and He is far from you. So how do we become righteous? The Bible spells out the way we can be come righteous. We have to ask God to forgive us for our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness and then learn God’s laws and practice them.
May God make us righteous today.

Love and patience are two virtues or fruits of the spirit that many Christians lack today. We are supposed to exhibit to one another, and to the world, the love that God shows to us. This kind of love means that we forgive each other and not keeping a record of the wrongs that people do to us. It means we treat other people the same way we will like to be treated. Let our prayer this lent include the Lord directing our hearts into His love. We should also pray that God directs our heart into Christ’s perseverance. We know that Christ was patient all the way to His death. They mocked Him, beat Him up, tossed Him around but because of His focus on the prize (saving us), He persevered. Having Christ’s perseverance means that we are focused on the prize and that no matter what we go through, we shall be victorious.

Ghana’s Drought Ends Today!

“And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.”
1 Kings 18:41, 45 KJV
Today, Ghana celebrated 60 years of independence from the British and the Lord crowned our 60th Independence Anniversary with a great rain. This is significant and important given the theme of the anniversary – Ghana: 60 Years On. And also today, the President cut the sod and committed to building a National Cathedral because according to him (the President) we ought to be grateful to God for how far He has brought us as a country.
You may not be spiritual and you may consider all this to be a coincidence; but I believe in the designer of the great universe in which we live. Nothing is by chance. Just like the drought ended in Israel some many years ago, Ghana’s drought ends today.
60 Years On! Remember this day! Save this post!
